Foxton Granta triumphs in historic Voneus Village Cup final at Lord’s, shattering records with century-double victory
The Voneus Village Cup, the most prestigious competition in grass roots cricket, returns this April. The preliminary round of the tournament is set for Sunday, April 13, with matches then due to take place fortnightly until the semi-finals in August. This year’s final will again take place at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket, in September. Last year’s tournament attracted more than 300 village clubs from all over the country with Foxton Granta Cricket Club eventually crowned champions in a thrilling final against Dumbleton CC.
There’s still time to enter your club for this year’s competition - but hurry, entries close on February 1.
This summer-long knockout competition has been run by The Cricketer magazine since its inception, and last year’s winners Foxton Granta CC will be looking to defend their crown at Lord’s in September.
For your club’s chance of playing at the Home of Cricket, get your entry in before the February 1 deadline.
We’ve teamed up with The Cricketer to sponsor the Voneus Village Cup, the world’s biggest amateur cricket competition.
Sport plays a huge part in bringing communities together. Which is why we’re helping to grow grassroots cricket by giving local communities a shot at competing against new teams.
