Voneus launches Build Your Skills initiative, with apprentices Brid Galvin and Kyle Strahan gaining leadership skills through a Level 3 programme
23rd December 2024As part of the new internal Build Your Skills initiative, Voneus has signed up its first two apprentices.
Brid Galvin and Kyle Strahan started their Level 3 Team Leader programme in October, which includes regular 1-2-1 coaching, webinars, workshops and guided self-study.
The 16-month course covers all aspects of leadership from managing their own personal and professional development to managing budgets and resources. Once all units are complete, there is an end point assessment comprising a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.
Delivered by BPP, the UK’s leading apprenticeship provider, the Level 3 qualification is professionally recognised by the Chartered Management Institute.
Purchase Ledger Supervisor Brid said: “I was pleased that my manager put me forward for the Team Leader programme, as it made me feel recognised and supported and that he was taking an active interest in my development within the team.
“I have been in a supervisory role previously, so this will refresh my skills and give me additional tools enabling me to mentor team colleagues.”
While Wireless Build Team Leader Kyle Strahan said: “I was extremely pleased when I was given the opportunity to take part in the Level 3 Apprenticeship scheme and think it's great that Voneus is willing to invest in my career, and allow me to do 6 hours a week to carry out my coursework.
“This is my first leadership role and will be a massive boost in helping me gain the skills and knowledge to effectively lead, mentor and work with my team.”
In January, Installation Supervisor Scott Glendinning will also begin the Team Leader Programme.
Also in January, four colleagues will begin their Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship which follows a similar structure to the Level 3 but is delivered over 15 months and covers personal effectiveness, modern leadership, corporate synergy, driving organisational performance, financial intelligence and dynamic operations.
They are: Tom White, Warehouse & Logistics Manager; Kamila Lang, Delivery Manager; Elliot Peace, Head of Sales, South; and Kieran Acornley, Installation Manager.
Ashley Hewitt, Voneus PX Coordinator, said: “Apprentices will gain hands-on experience of the principles of management and leadership along with a host of other unit subjects.
"This is a brilliant opportunity for key Voneus team members to develop practical skills and grow their career opportunities.
“As a business we recognise that training and development is a vital part of delivering the best workplace experience, which ultimately pays back through employee engagement and great performance.
“We look forward to our inaugural intake of Brid and Kyle successfully completing their apprenticeships and going on to help guide the next cohort.”
